I thought I would show you all some photos of my week spent in the sun.<br />

<br />This was the view from our balcony...isn't it pretty!! We stayed in Cala d'Or on the east side of the Island. The hotel was the Barcelo Ponent Playa and as you can see was directly next to the beach. The water was crystal clear but surprisingly cold. As a non swimmer my limit was up to my shoulders. Not to my neck as that was too deep. I wish I wasn't scared of water. : (</div>

I had a nice week away in the sun, relaxing and enjoying the weather. It went far too quickly but doesn't it always! I would recommend Mallorca and definitely Cala d'Or, not too rowdy and quite family orientated. Now to plan the next holiday...</div>

I can't believe it has been almost 3 years since I was last here...<br />
<br />
The reason for my absence back in 2009 - I split up from my boyfriend of 7 years and moved out of our home. Things weren't easy, I had to get a place on my own (the first time ever living alone) and I had no internet or even computer. :(<br />
<br />
I have been meaning to get back on here and blog but time just flies by and before I knew it 3 years had passed. I still live in the house I picked all on my own but now live with an adorable man whom I am engaged to be married to. The wedding is planned for 2014. My cat (from my past relationship)came to live with me about 2 years ago so we are a proper little family again.<br />
<br />
I am going to Mallorca next week so thought I would get my first post in before I go. I'm only going on holiday so will be back in no time. To get myself beach and sun ready (hasn't this summer been dreadful!) I am currently going through a healthy phase; lots of clean eating and gym visits. To kick start my exercise routine I bought myself a little present... <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCXCyiX9gXxwJ-4YqWvSAwlfCsEfUuFkA7Kz07jjgB5zzyyOvxEkZ4ZrBAF23umCIuskAv7C7Dq4GFTG24iFtNJ02lzRx4kX_xsfSLAbDKlcQfsIf45PLetwf_pp4SzaFit7NKt791oRU/s1600/Polar.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" hda="true" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCXCyiX9gXxwJ-4YqWvSAwlfCsEfUuFkA7Kz07jjgB5zzyyOvxEkZ4ZrBAF23umCIuskAv7C7Dq4GFTG24iFtNJ02lzRx4kX_xsfSLAbDKlcQfsIf45PLetwf_pp4SzaFit7NKt791oRU/s320/Polar.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
This is a Polar FT60 heart rate monitor. For those of you that don't know you wear it like a watch and have an exercise band that goes around your chest. When you exercise the information from the band goes onto the watch so it records everything from current heart rate, desired heart rate levels for age/height/weight and calories burned. It's a wonderful piece of kit. I can't believe how much exercise you need to do just to burn off a couple of hundred calories! I am trying to lose a bit of weight so my weekly target is set at 2100 calories to be burned each week or a minimum of 4 and a half hours. Yikes....<br />
<br />
I am really looking forward to my holiday next week. There are 5 of us going to the resort of Cala D'Or. I have been to Mallorca many moons ago but never to this resort so it should be good. Our hotel is right on the beach so I am thinking sunbathing, sea, cocktails and relaxing. Hopefully we will fit in a visit to Palma as well. We are celebrating 3 things whilst we are over there; my sister-in-law's birthday, my birthday and also it will be a year since I got engaged. More about how that happened next time.<br />
<br />
See you all soon x<br />Rachaelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01669765742517843977noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1917936887197741777.post-2750835946943541552009-08-28T06:31:00.000-07:002009-08-28T06:35:05.635-07:00Sorry...<div align="justify">Just wanted to let you guys know I am still alive and kicking. </div><div align="justify"> </div><div align="justify">Alot has happened over the last few weeks so I am struggling to find time to blog. I have been thinking about it for a while (my first one is three stars on my back which I got 5 years ago). I knew I wanted something on the inside of my wrist. When we were in Las Vegas in April I considered having something done then (the tattoo shop is half owned by Chester Bennington from Linkin Park and I thought it would have been amazing to say I had it done there!). I did look through all the designs but didn't see anything I liked. I then spotted a tattoo on <a href="http://alienontoast.blogspot.com/">here</a> and decided I wanted what she had. So on the 18th July off I went to Abody in Leicester to get it done. £50 and 30 mins later this is what I got...</div><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgy6OJ24E3nI1cLYIO6-po-Dn0vpvs46UBaxaPmhVwOaB8WZm9I_BN500ocDKDFIumwvsDLFRqv6gcshi_sHGzvuJNDUuhOLoeXi8eA5GXaiccC_LV2zjTIi0z-mnK1UMoWT6TwtPOAchs/s1600-h/tattoo.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5362890012100307458" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgy6OJ24E3nI1cLYIO6-po-Dn0vpvs46UBaxaPmhVwOaB8WZm9I_BN500ocDKDFIumwvsDLFRqv6gcshi_sHGzvuJNDUuhOLoeXi8eA5GXaiccC_LV2zjTIi0z-mnK1UMoWT6TwtPOAchs/s320/tattoo.jpg" /></a><br />I am going through a phase at the moment and feel the need for a change. I usually make my pizza dough from scratch in the bread machine. This time I cheated and bought a packet of Co-op's pizza dough mix. It's very easy to make, you just need to add water to the mix and stir to form a dough. You then need to knead it for 5 mins and then roll it out onto a greased baking sheet. Cover for 30 mins.</div><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5350880960502531970" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdbsYeg3uY9llKyW-6iTFGP4ytGhChjaklsFypreV828-7O_mzAXMN1XcE-VVF4N-4qWRUhmWwvsddzto7bp2UmFlXOl8P8NutjB0JUywyZzrhYdU5WDLAsF0FeKy1xET9gOC4fEHjTwg/s320/pizza1.bmp" border="0" /><br /><div align="justify">I next added my toppings (always the best bit deciding what to have!). This time I opted for pesto on the base topped with pizza sauce. I then added a white onion, 125g mushrooms, 1 tomato, some tofu salad toppers in sun dried tomato flavour and some sheese smoked cheddar to finish it off. I baked it at 200c for around 30 mins. </div><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5350880799365488786" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6BlY3tuQJqMS1pdBgOVQI1H99TCFzBJcKWzB_Dd7bmZdSzJnF7JLQ51E_gBF-ntcEsTTA96REG20xZ_cXWZRvb4reZ-Meamngrf16zwkXjwWfNGP6eizW-DawVgfPFTTh0sA4qiWu5Yg/s320/pizza2.bmp" border="0" /><br /><div align="justify">Here is the finished item straight out of the oven. They were: The Garden of Vegan, La Dolce Vegan and Vegan Brunch. I didn't really know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. The Garden of Vegan and La Dolce Vegan are both written by Sarah Kramer. Each book was a paperback with no piccies of the food! I always like to see pics as it gives me an idea of what my dish is supposed to look like. More reason to cook them to see how they turn out! I love both of these books already. They are both thick and choc full of mouth watering recipes. I have already made three dishes from La Dolce Vegan (I only got it on Friday!). I attended a party on Sunday so made 3 different flavour muffins; double choc, maple streusel and banana and blueberry. All I can say is wow. All turned out perfectly and were just right. Not too sweet, good texture and appertising to look at. They went down a treat with all the non vegans. I think all that baking went to my head as I forgot to take any pictures of them! Doh..a good excuse to make some more : ) I have yet to make anything from Vegan Brunch but plan on doing so at the weekend starting with the first recipe, a tofu omlette. I will post a pic of how it turns out. This book is written by Isa Chandra Moskowitz, famous for books such as Veganomicon and VCTOTW.<br /></div><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5350645011496480450" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNBZKHDVrhnSrn1R1wlonDXownXQOq_uWypiuv9F7L-xfy2cCLUS0mIoEudahuz9jYuMJYghjcgt06Xp8_hptoo_cAlin4nM4DBIi-qQQJmSe2nT6X1ONeWsibZt_2xZ2ElY58YlnlDXA/s320/book.jpg" /><br /><p align="justify"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5350644327733558658" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3DM86G9BQ1rxmkFYvirg-ISUst_YzKSiIZR0oPafvYTZjFSWz8iN0OXZilC7InqUp65L788FM1q8eLvaD2K72LM16isrs5l2LUlJtk5ODJYrW2-V1yM-GXCjUs-MepxBfJZ60y5koyMs/s320/books.jpg" /><br />Since I last blogged I have also "discovered" Etsy! What an amazing site. It's the type of site I have been hoping existed. I love vintage, home made and anything unique. I wish I was a creative person so I could put my wares on to sell. The only creative thing I do is cross stitching. I have been doing this on and off for around 15 years. The only problem is it takes me so long to finish a piece it would never be worth my while selling them. I like to do them for family and friends to give as gifts. Here is the first thing I bought off the site; it's a scottie dog brooch! How adorable. Look at the cute packaging. I was dead chuffed with it. </p><p><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5350648790204618626" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjK2fpMV15-Uv3OjpdfOv9ZjA_E0O_Td3j5jYsgXVmm_JH32_OFM7aY67fXhAUkVTNtWA3vpqXZoUcdm3g7SK9XzrqFYkh8ztxMJPItIA-zzgGpmXjam-GAxOGGlHOgaNA-s4pGR94_wMU/s320/scottie.jpg" /></p><p><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5350649777423272738" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPYI8kWosBNpuWdb-tYHjyGTyi_OfGAM71OGF1-oUSuVSMddhhMsTjHql6H2CCvAoSkRURPx-XO9f5faIYn-p0ezOPVPGTtNvcIC6xeIquCM0_kNXl-_TLl1ortVw0C6j4JCyny7AmLmE/s320/parcel.jpg" /></p><p align="justify">This weekend I would like to buy a food processor. Alot of recipes require the use of a food processor so I thought it was time I got my ass into gear and got one. If anyone has any suggestions on what one to buy, please can you let me know. I know the cheapest one will probably not be the best but then again my pocket wouldn't love me if it will cost over £100. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks peeps. x</p><p align="justify"></p>Rachaelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01669765742517843977noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1917936887197741777.post-45421935582336040412009-06-10T08:07:00.000-07:002009-07-26T14:49:11.207-07:00I love Fernie<div align="justify">This is Fernie. She is our cat. We were given her 4 years ago when her carer moved away. She is a little minx but is oh so loving when her food comes out. We think she is around 10 years old but cannot be sure for definite. We called her "Cat" for 3 years before finding out what her name was. She hates other cats with a passion. She loves lying on the bed and chasing light movements. She will only eat packet food of one of three brands. She moults like there is no tomorrow but absolutely hates being brushed. Twice when her coat was greasy we had to put her in the shower....I so wish I had my camera at those times. </div><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHur8-XLWv0qIFXgGYlwle6DobyEeHOUL4Wk2oKUxkYx5LKVLoTadw-F4C8oecJtqk_BBCVkdKp4fvLWGATdbkn0a6uAdEi7wc2riFYmKO1a9_-h-uytb2T44467B_K-fuaxXsTLImLjo/s1600-h/PIC_3141.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 262px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5345717008127809586" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHur8-XLWv0qIFXgGYlwle6DobyEeHOUL4Wk2oKUxkYx5LKVLoTadw-F4C8oecJtqk_BBCVkdKp4fvLWGATdbkn0a6uAdEi7wc2riFYmKO1a9_-h-uytb2T44467B_K-fuaxXsTLImLjo/s320/PIC_3141.JPG" /></a><br /><div align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXDFGZxD2GjTuFK3MQkPwN3Qk4cuTA6DogCbvWPtTfaumGvkYx9kYIwUr0dJITZOSuMFN0wXZAOtd7JgKVRg5tWuWCw92zhQAhK1NNsbYt4ni_pPuc6Bdn7B5staSQNZQHIgN33LYcX4M/s1600-h/fernie.jpg"></a>I love my cat and my cat loves me : )<br /><br /></div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4bUWx5PiuDzyI9Wrq3bxqckwQlX8IAaxa13eTO-fX2NkPPsd4SRrqVgljlTtN7jS9gjXls5omHiDDPPZkYECMe0APSVlprVif3cnKurbeNorbvBLjPgMmgWlbHWlycKOigYqIMzPH7Kk/s1600-h/fernie1.JPG"></a>Rachaelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01669765742517843977noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1917936887197741777.post-44904001804954792272009-06-09T06:45:00.000-07:002009-06-09T07:08:54.931-07:00Rhubarb cake, magazines and car boot finds<div align="justify">I'm off sick at the moment with tonsilitis and a cold...boo. I bought a new vegan cook book the other day so plan on sampling some of its delights. I made some tacos the other day which were yummy. I love the dried TVP mince so try to cook with it as often as possible. These were alittle watery and kinda fell apart when I ate them but you are supposed to get messing when you eat tacos...right? It's made of oats and it was so good. When I have cereal I have to eat it quickly before it goes soggy. I didn't have to worry with these, they did not go soggy even after 10 mins of sitting in soya milk. Yum!<br /></div><div align="justify"><br /></div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5337987222831857234" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3FUYX2aSGa6IW_tWYZ_AxDfTOGivHPACOoJwsg4_lYUg2IbClPgVifQtUSCkYg8XoVbRbo18hY0wwLfhs557xRZ6yCLwoGbLwhs7BXD5i8gtvzL9uNZmR30PthM2BVzouzdgj6TjRTPw/s320/cereal.jpg" /><br /><p align="justify"><br />Breakfast on Saturday and Sunday is more of a leisurely affair so I made pancakes! I haven't had any since I came back from the USA (the end of April). Mine are really simple to make, just self raising flour, bicarbonate of soda, baking powder, sugar, oil and soya milk. Sometimes I like to add lemon juice and sultanas but this time I just made a plain batter. I always have them with maple syrup. I don't understand the American way of serving them with savoury items like eggs or sausages. I find it the strangest thing. Pancakes should definitely only be accompanied by sweet items. </p><p align="justify"> </p><p align="justify"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5337987030808088866" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbEAsN86Qw8wglUagunPXJuERm3xYrwGPl9I1_IeKpKRWbvjAH0I0yTs_3upYhXmqxNRc3M3lNavLNVxOmREYEn2nmipSyKhiAiowPm3ckyuN4hZAnXr2swTussK30V6d7tt3jSzkIV9Q/s320/pancakes.jpg" /><br /><br />I went shopping in Kettering midday on Saturday and popped into Holland and Barratt. I love to stock my freezer up with vegan products I just can't buy anywhere else in the town. I try not to eat convenience foods all the time but when I am busy it helps to have something I can just shove in the oven. I popped into Home Bargains to try and get some cat litter bags (they didn't have any) but I spotted silken tofu. I've never seen it in there before and it was at the bargain price of just 19p per carton (that's like 50cents to anyone reading from the US). I bought five because at that price you just have to. I may even go back again and get some more. I love making puddings with them.<br /></p><p><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5337986584886566610" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYLqy1c_DNEpHODWS_jch6XpnwuWCxoENa4_AJmTCszkw58xupbQHCRfGT6ay8kWUkqM161R-CgQwlT8w3Z-ZhkjDosM21CU0vz0Q_GdNd2hYz7WL4AMJnRkwg2zHi41tTL95ju7oeaCg/s320/shopping.jpg" /></p><div align="justify"></div>Rachaelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01669765742517843977noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1917936887197741777.post-80975221619740913222009-05-13T06:09:00.000-07:002009-05-13T06:21:33.125-07:00Mmmm....<div align="justify">I decided this week to make a dinner out of Veganomicon. I'm not quite sure the exact recipe names as I don't have the book with me but can let you know if you are interested. I think they were called Hot Glazed Tempeh, Messy Rice and Creole Stuffed Peppers.<br /></div><div align="justify"></div><div align="justify"><br /></div><div align="justify">I have never had tempeh before but had bought a block a little while back as I thought it would make a change. I wasn't particularly impressed by the look of it but it was ok. I marinated it in a sauce for around 30 mins before pan frying it. I would buy it again. I thought it tasted kinda cheesy! </div><div align="justify"><br /> </div><div align="justify">Lovely G made my pepper dish and this was really tasty. Considering I don't like chilli and this contained chilli I was pretty happy my head wasn't blown off. : )</div><div align="justify"></div><div align="justify"><br /> </div><div align="justify">The messy rice was again alittle liquidy but that was my fault for adding too much water (I was trying to stop it sticking!). </div><div align="justify"></div><div align="justify"><br /> </div><div align="justify">It took 50 mins to make which on a week night is a long time to be cooking. Will definitely have it on a weekend in future. I halved the recipe so it served two. Unfortunately G is an omni and wouldn't have the 2nd portion. At least dinner on Wednesday is sorted for me.</div><br /><br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5335297824124460562" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 308px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXu9mvrEupVnrBXs3SD2KqEXG-vDwEyJyjve79AwBlA31HwBp5VAB840_TmN_DDoOYiskYfjVOiwjUMj84XqjNNs1hDBCMwMZtcNzRXGbM6ZZieNkN9k-JfEyZIQSourb0fuUTuVtJ4SU/s320/tempeh.bmp" border="0" />Rachaelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01669765742517843977noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1917936887197741777.post-17011157976382775272009-05-12T06:04:00.000-07:002009-05-12T08:31:12.368-07:00Another long week at work<div align="justify"> Monday = work : (<br /><br /></div><div align="justify"></div><div align="justify"><br /></div><div align="justify">I work as a college administrator/auditor full time around 15 miles from home. There isn't a great deal to say about it, it's just a job. It isn't something I want to be doing but for the time being it suits me. I would love to come to a point in my life where I don't have to work for money but to work because I want to. I would absolutely love to work with animals. I'm thinking maybe an animal shelter. Somewhere worthwhile where I can feel I am doing some good. The problem is I don't have any animal related qualifications and to be able to get them I would need to study fulltime which is not an option as my wage is needed. </div><div align="justify"><br /></div><div align="justify"></div><div align="justify"><br /></div><div align="justify">My main two distractions at work are the internet and food! I am always snacking during work hours but at the weekend or the evening I don't. It must be boredom I reckon! I try to snack healthly on fruit/crackers/cereal bars or yoghurts. I limit myself to one packet of crisps per week. </div><div align="justify"><br /></div><div align="justify"></div><div align="justify"><br /></div><div align="justify">Food today has been good. I have snacked lots and had cereal for breakfast. I tried the Asda Vitality cereal which has dried fruit in it with soya milk. To tell you the truth I couldn't really taste the dried fruit in it! It was nice though...</div><br /><br /><br /><p><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5334958966671607058" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQcxPg8KQF9sLcI0pF1OqnECSafdTTgbNpKdq0LG-zbz1FILJ8hjG6i2Vt-o6nwZaTein-MYsMFVx5uUNuTI18DNWoGhomXQRMz1gjmaAnKqpxSPrLuvjhOLv8J4Mp1HkdN3WNEwSx0yw/s320/asda+cereal.bmp" border="0" /></p><p align="justify"><br />On the way home from work I stopped at Toys R Us to buy my niece a birthday present (it's not until the 30th). I also popped into a homeware shop called Homesense (ran by TK Maxx). For once I didn't end up spending a fortune! I bought a red gingham door stop and a present for my sister's birthday which is on the 25th. I was very pleased with myself. : )</p><p align="justify">Dinner was Linda McCartney pie, mashed potato and mixed veg. Very yummy! <br /><br /></p>Rachaelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01669765742517843977noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1917936887197741777.post-55964289151816698332009-05-11T05:55:00.000-07:002009-05-12T06:03:40.869-07:00Sunday...a day of rest??<div align="justify"> I will just start off by saying how good my dinner was last night. As promised here is a pic of it. The potato receipe was from Veganomicon. The end result was quite liquidy (will use less stock next time) but the taste was sooooo good. </div><div align="center"><br /></div><p align="justify"><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 375px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 500px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3396/3517270427_21eb52cae8.jpg?v=0" border="0" /><br />I was up early on Sunday as I had planned to go to my local car boot sale with my mum. We go just to buy, not to sell. I only bought a book for £2. It was the latest Trinny and Susannah book. I was going to buy it at Christmas but never did. I'm glad I waited now!<br /></p><p align="justify"><br />My mum left around 12:30pm and I had an hour before G and I were going out. I had wanted to do my garden on Saturday, but due to getting up late (see previous post) didn't do it. Well an hour was plenty of time as I only have a small garden. I planted some lettuces and broccoli that my mum had grown from seed and just tidied the rest up. We are lucky enough to have a gardener every other week so the lawn had only recently been cut. (The gardener only cuts the lawn and shrubbery). </p><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5334921745319081778" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjQy34mTGf8Dy8jnXGDDV1QMtHyZl3fXKkxOQZ7WXZjci5L7etDa75ZZIpY06ciG4TchWFQcafl34ujSyvo0WlV1p-nIxVDFeH2-bqlHh_BARcggup9cBa4VvuRLQ_TKwxCUwKlKymK3E/s320/allium.bmp" border="0" /> <p align="center"><span style="font-size:85%;">An allium in my garden</span><br /></p><p align="justify"><br />G's mum lives around an hour north of us so we drove up to go say hi. We showed her all our lovely holiday pics and went for a drink down the pub. On the way home we also dropped in on some other relatives for a quick brew.<br /><br />By the time we got back it was already 7pm! I just had time to heat my dinner before I had to think about going to bed. Oh well most Sundays aren't this busy.<br />My dinner was the leftover potatoes and veg and a tomato tart I had made on Friday. I didn't really have any lunch which is a usual weekend thing. (Yes I know it's bad to skip meals). </p>Rachaelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01669765742517843977noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1917936887197741777.post-83349844315245388282009-05-09T11:35:00.001-07:002009-05-10T01:28:42.861-07:00Hello and welcome...As you can see this is my first post to my brand spanking new blog.<br /><br /><br /><div><div><div align="justify">I'll give you the lowdown on me in case you are interested. My name is Rachael and I am 27 years old. I live in Northamptonshire in England. I have been a vegetarian/vegan for the past 15 years. At the moment my veganism isn't as committed as it once was but I am trying to get back on track! My blog will include a bit of everything from what I have been doing to what I have been eating and drinking.<br /></div><br /><div align="justify">I have not long been back from the US where I was holidaying in California. Unfortunately my bodyclock hasn't reverted to the British time yet so I am still going to bed late and getting up late! : (</div><div align="justify">I managed to drag myself out of bed at 1:3opm today which I know is really bad! I had so many plans as well of what I wanted to do today. I really wanted to go charity shop shopping and do some gardening but alas they didn't get done.<br /><br /></div><div align="justify">Breakfast was going to be American pancakes but I didn't have time as I wanted to get to Asda to do the food shopping. I settled for a crunchy oat and fruit cereal with soya milk. Two cups of tea later and a long shopping list I left. Every week I scour my vegan cookery books and food magazines to come up with dinner ideas. I find it so difficult to just pick food off the shelves without a list. I tend to spend way too much but still come away with no full dinners!<br /><br /></div><div align="justify">I like shopping in Asda as they do tend to stock alot of vegan food. You just have to look in the right places in the store. Some of my treats included some packets of burger and sausage mixes, redwood sausages, vegan ham, strawberries, dried mixed berries and the latest Good Food magazine. I also bought 2 tops and a pair of trousers. I always spend double what I should when I go to Asda. Oh well never mind, it's not like we are in a recession or anything! :P</div><br /><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5334108244798357362" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivBJGl-4ZgUV0xQIQxD6H-zr-6ihnFp8H2_1WrbSoXixv0Nh_K1L7klGo3M94gP86qsrbzoM0-y86esEx0KIxIM40db7ud2MYmCiImBpEEhjS0CNGrwfiw3eOeCMRmTsVHqAelJCVsUpw/s320/vegan+mixes.jpg" /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 375px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 500px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3544/3518082552_24842a7028.jpg?v=0" /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 375px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 500px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3622/3517270529_e6a079cb40.jpg?v=0" /><br /><br /><div align="justify">I missed lunch due to my late awakening but plan on having a lovely dinner to compensate. So far I am thinking maybe Gardein "Beef" steak with dauphinoise potatoes, sweetcorn and peas. I need to get my skates on though as it is already 8pm. Yikes. I will post a pic tomorrow. </div><br /><div align="justify"></div><br /><div align="justify">I hope you like my first post and continue to read more.<br /><br /></div><br /><br /><br /><div align="justify">Rachael x</div></div></div>Rachaelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01669765742517843977noreply@blogger.com0
